Harvesting the last sheaf of corn was called ‘cutting the hare’, because the hare is the embodiment of the corn-spirit. I love old customs and I love hares, so I drew this one amongst the corn under the crescent moon and a blue starry sky. If you can’t plait the last sheaf of corn into a the shape of a hare and store it, I’m pretty sure this print will give you good luck all year instead.
This hand pulled screenprint makes a lovely gift for anyone who loves rabbits, hares, corn, Folk mythology or late summer night skies.
